Bulgaria: Network automation investments

So far, Electricity distributor CEZ Distribution Bulgaria has installed over 700 automated elements to its electricity distribution network in western Bulgaria.

CEZ Distribution Bulgaria said that it will invest some 850,000 euros in the automation of elements of its power network in 2021.

The statement from the company said that it will also complete a 450,000 euros reconstruction of seven units in the western part of Bulgaria this year. The automated system elements will provide remote information about damaged areas of the power grid and allow the utility to reduce the number of affected customers.

Regarding the reconstruction of units, the process envisages the complete transition to telemechanics equipment, replacing the old components with new ones, modernization of the existing systems for security and control as well as the implementation of a new remote control system.
