DRI refinances €50.6 million bridge facility for 60-MW Ruginoasa wind farm

Renewable energy developer DRI has refinanced a €50.6 million senior construction bridge facility for its 60-MW Ruginoasa wind farm in northeastern Romania. The refinancing is tied to the project’s construction financing structure and follows completion of the wind farm.

Financing provided to Moldova Eolian in Iasi county

The refinancing was provided by Austrian lender Kommunalkredit. It was extended to Moldova Eolian, the project company behind the facility located in Iasi county.

Ruginoasa among DRI’s operating renewable assets

Ruginoasa was the first new wind farm completed in Romania in more than a decade. The asset is part of a portfolio of four renewable projects operated by DRI in the country, which also includes three solar plants.

DRI expansion across Romania and other European markets

DRI is the renewable energy arm of Ukrainian energy group DTEK. The company is expanding across Romania, Italy, Poland and Croatia through greenfield development, partnerships with local companies and acquisitions of operating assets.

The refinancing is intended to strengthen the wind farm’s long-term capital structure after construction. It also provides DRI additional flexibility to pursue new projects as investment in wind, solar and storage accelerates in Romania.

For lenders, the refinancing reflects renewed appetite for operational Romanian wind assets following a period of limited new construction. Romania has become a central market for DRI as the developer scales its presence in the region.
