Croatia will hold a new round of guarantees of origin auctions on Oct. 27, with certificates linked to wind, solar and biomass generation. The auction process involves HROTE, ENNA Next, KOER and CROPEX. The certificates are intended to expand the volume of renewable attributes available to electricity suppliers and corporate buyers.
Certificate volumes offered by auction participants
HROTE plans to offer 251,129 guarantees of origin associated with electricity produced under Croatia’s incentive system. This volume includes certificates from wind and biomass plants covering production during the third quarter of 2026. ENNA Next will offer 13,852 additional guarantees of origin linked to renewable electricity produced outside the Croatian incentive system, including wind, solar and biomass generation.
KOER will provide 1,271 guarantees of origin linked to solar generation produced outside the incentive system. CROPEX is also involved in the auctions alongside HROTE, ENNA Next and KOER. Together, the participants expand the range of renewable certificates available through the Oct. 27 offering.
Role of guarantees of origin for corporate renewable procurement
The auctions take place as guarantees of origin become increasingly important for companies seeking documented renewable-electricity consumption. The demand is particularly noted among industrial buyers with export exposure and sustainability-reporting requirements. Greater liquidity in GO markets also provides renewable producers with an additional revenue stream beyond electricity sales.
As corporate power-purchase agreements and renewable procurement expand across Southeast Europe, transparent certificate markets are expected to support linking physical power supply with environmental attributes.
