Croatia: Solar project licenses

Two companies have launched preliminary licensing procedures for three solar power plant projects with combined capacity of 112 MW, according to data published by Croatian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

Local company Vidukin Gaj is planning to build the Luzine and Rupine plants of up to 26 MW each at Jasenice in southern Croatia. Scheduled to operate on 71 hectares combined, the two units would produce 38 GWh of electricity per year each. Also, local company Krs plans to build a 60 MW solar power plant with an expected annual output of 100 GWh at Bibinje. Croatian solar sector is still at its infancy, but it has attracted many domestic and foreign investors in recent years. Planned projects include Spanish utility Acciona’s 150 MW plant at Promina, French developer Neoen’s 62.5 MW unit at Vlaka, Austrian investor RP Global’s Rudine 1 and 2 plants near Dubrovnik with combined capacity of 54 MW, and state-owned power utility HEP’s 50 MW unit at Sveti Petar Ludbreski.
