Albanian company Tekno Fire has taken the first step toward developing a major solar project in the country’s south. The company has submitted an environmental impact report to Albania’s National Environment Agency (AKM), outlining its plans for a 102 MW solar power plant near the city of Permet.
According to AKM, the proposed solar power plant would occupy nearly 148 hectares of land. The project also includes the construction of a 110 kV substation to support the plant’s operations.
For the installation, Tekno Fire plans to source over 157,000 photovoltaic panels from the Chinese manufacturer Trina Solar. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate about 170 GWh of clean energy each year.
Before Tekno Fire can proceed with construction, it must secure an environmental permit from the authorities. If this is approved, it will allow the company to apply for a building permit and obtain energy production licenses.
