Romania: SPP acquisition for ENGIE Romania

An operational solar power plant, with an installed capacity of 5.46 MW, located in the southern part of Romania, in the village of Nenciulesti in Teleorman County was acquired by ENGIE Romania from a company owned by two German investors. The plant was put into operation in 2014 and has produced 42 GWh of electricity since, enough to cover the annual consumption of some 25,000 households.

This acquisition represents a new step, after the acquisition of a 9.3 MW solar power plant in December last year, towards achieving the objective of developing the company’s portfolio of installed capacity of renewable energies, both by organic growth and by acquisitions.

CEO of ENGIE Romania Eric Stab said that the company is pleased to complete this acquisition and, at the same time, eager to see it followed by other developments in the green energy area, which will help it build a strong position in the centralized renewable energy sector.

ENGIE Romania currently operates 113 MW of renewable energy in wind and solar capacities. Prior to this acquisition, ENGIE Romania was present on the local RES market through two wind farms, located in Braila and Galati counties, and a single solar power plant in Harghita county.
