Macedonia: Unit 3 at TPP Bitola shut down due to repairs

The Macedonian power utility ELEM announced that unit 3 at thermal power plant Bitola has been shut down due to planned repairs and that the country‘s electricity needs are completely covered by national capacities.

The statement from ELEM said that this is planned preventive shutdown due to repairs which should take between 24 and 72 hours, stating that all remaining electricity production capacities in Macedonia are in operation and there will be no need for electricity imports.

TPP Bitola is the largest thermal power plant in Macedonia and is part of REK Bitola complex together with lignite mine Suvodol. It has three units with power output of 225 MW each. TPP Bitola contributes with almost 70 % of entire electricity generation.
