In May 2026, the average electricity bill for households in Montenegro was €29.15. This was down 8.3% from the previous month, when the average bill stood at €31.78. The change was linked to lower monthly consumption across the household sector.
Municipal bill levels vary across Montenegro
Municipal data show a wide spread in average household bills. The lowest figure was recorded in Rožaje, where households paid around €23.5. The highest average bill was registered in Kotor, at approximately €34.5.
Distribution of households by monthly bill size
Most consumers remained in lower billing categories. Around 66.63% of households received electricity bills below €30, while 18.41% were billed between €30 and €50. A further 12.07% of customers paid between €50 and €100, and only 2.89% faced monthly bills exceeding €100.
EPCG discount coverage and household consumption
The electricity utility EPCG reported that 161,650 regularly paying customers received a discount. This represented approximately 39.05% of total consumers in Montenegro. EPCG also said total household electricity consumption reached 105.4 million kWh in May 2026.
Consumption was 5.93% higher year-on-year but 6.37% lower than in the previous month.
