Electricity consumption in Greece fell for an eleventh successive month in April 2023, decreasing by 3% compared to the same month last year, according to data published by electricity transmission system operator ADMIE. Electricity consumption over the eleven months fell by 15%. That is a record drop for such a period.
The drop in demand has been attributed to two factors, the efforts by residential and commercial consumers to restrict their electricity expenses, as well as mild weather conditions.
Households and low and mid-voltage businesses reduced their electricity consumption by 3% in April, while industrial consumers decreased consumption by 6%.
In the first four months of 2023, electricity consumption fell by 9%.
