A tropical cyclone off the coast of Western Australia has notably impacted operations at the Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG facilities. Together, these plants contribute over 5% of the total global LNG supply, making any decline in their output a critical concern for international markets. While both facilities managed to maintain operations at reduced capacity, this incident underscores the susceptibility of LNG supply chains to extreme weather events.
The existing market conditions are already characterized by limited spare capacity, meaning that even brief interruptions can lead to significant fluctuations in pricing and availability.
