Montenegro’s state-owned power utility EPCG has opened procurement for the main design of the planned 41.8 MW Krupac solar power plant near Nikšić. The design contract is valued at an estimated €125,000. The procurement relates to the preparation of the main design documentation for the project.
Site location and role in generation expansion
The photovoltaic facility is planned on the shore of Lake Krupac. EPCG said the project is part of its wider effort to expand renewable generation. The utility also aims to gradually reduce the role of coal in its portfolio.
Planned technical configuration and grid connection
Technical plans envisage ground-mounted photovoltaic arrays feeding inverter systems and subsequently low-voltage blocks at the substation. Grid connection would be provided through a new 110 kV overhead line. The line would be linked to the future 220/110 kV Trubjela substation.
Main-design scope and tender timeline
The design contract covers architectural and civil engineering, process engineering, technical equipment and electrical installations. It also includes detailed bills of quantities and a full cost estimate. The tender was launched on 25 August 2025.
