Croatia: 852 GWh of electricity produced in August

According to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia in August 2019 amounted to 852 GWh, which is 14.9 % lower compared to August last year, when the production amounted to 1,001 GWh.

During August, 311 GWh of electricity or 36.5 % was produced in hydropower plants, 387 GWh or 45.4 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 73 GWh or 8.6 % of total produced electricity. During this period, Croatia imported 1,128 GWh of electricity, which is approximately the same as last August (1,118 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 307 GWh, 22.3 % lower compared to August 2018 (395 GWh). Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 88 million cubic meters of natural gas in August 2019, which is 15.4 % less than in the same month last year. Natural gas imports stood at 157 million cubic meters, 19.8 % more than in August 2018. Crude oil production stood at 56,000 tons, approximately the same as in August last year. Production of petroleum products stood at 417,000 tons in August 2019, some 11.2 % higher compared to 375,000 tons produced in the same month last year.
