Bosnia: Podvelezje wind farm should be completed in Q3 2019

Executive Director for Capital Investments in Bosnian power utility EPBiH Senad Salkic said that the construction of EPBiH’s first wind farm Podvelezje should be completed in the third quarter of 2019.

Salkic said that it is planned that the project will be implemented by concluding three separate contracts. The first contract for the construction of access roads and wind turbine’s foundations has already been signed and is in the final stage of realization. The second one is related to the construction of substation and transmission lines and is already signed as well. The third contract includes the procurement, delivery and installation of wind turbines and EPBiH is currently in the process of evaluating offers. The estimated value of the entire project is 83 million euros.

The project for the construction of Podvelezje wind farms envisages that the future power plant will have installed capacity of 48 MW and annual generation of some 115 GWh of electricity. This will be the first state-owned wind farm build in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the biggest post-war investment by EPBiH, even bigger than the currently ongoing construction of HPP Vranduk. The project should be finished by the end of 2018 and it will be operated under the 30-years concession contract, with an extension option. The value of the investment is estimated at 83 million euros and the funding will be provided through a loan by the German KfW Bank.
