YESS Power has successfully commissioned a 60 MWh battery energy storage system at the Novaci solar power plant located in North Macedonia. This development marks a significant advancement in the deployment of large-scale energy storage solutions within the country, reflecting an increasing focus on integrating renewable energy sources with innovative storage technologies.
The project was executed by YESS Power, which operates as the storage division of Topkapi Endustri. The company managed the entire project lifecycle, encompassing engineering design, equipment procurement, on-site assembly, and system commissioning. Collaboration with Cubenergy facilitated the provision of the necessary storage technology for this initiative.
The integration of this battery system positions the Novaci facility as the first hybrid solar-plus-storage plant of its kind in North Macedonia and throughout the Western Balkans region. While specific investment amounts have not been disclosed, this project exemplifies the growing confidence in renewable energy solutions supported by storage capabilities.
The Novaci solar power plant itself boasts an installed capacity of 55 MW and has been operational since 2023. It produces approximately 85 GWh annually, sufficient to provide electricity for around 30,000 households. The facility is owned and operated by Mey Energy, a local renewable energy developer, highlighting the crucial role that domestic companies play in advancing the energy transition within the region.
