Solar output declines across major European markets in week of June 1

In the week of June 1, solar photovoltaic generation fell across major European electricity markets compared with the previous week. Germany recorded the steepest decline at 25%, while France decreased by 24%. Elsewhere, Portugal was down 4.6% and Spain fell by 4.7%, with Italy registering a 7.7% drop.

Despite the weekly decrease, June 1 delivered record solar output in parts of Southern Europe. The Iberian Peninsula reached all-time highs for a June day, with Spain generating 250 GWh and Portugal producing 32 GWh. For Portugal, that level marked the second-highest solar production in its history, positioned just below the record set on May 29, 2026.
