Delgaz Grid completes €4.7 million Vicov upgrade in Romania

Romanian distributor Delgaz Grid has completed a €4.7 million upgrade of the Vicov 110/20 kV substation in Suceava county. The project is expected to improve supply reliability for around 18,000 customers and strengthen network access for renewable energy generators. European funding provided €2.2 million, with Delgaz Grid covering the balance.

Equipment and network upgrades

The work included replacing high- and medium-voltage equipment, integrating SCADA and refurbishing the 17-km Vicov-Radauti 110 kV line. The investment is expected to reduce outages, improve voltage quality and cut technical losses, while supporting grid connections for 20 renewable-energy producers. It is part of a wider Delgaz programme valued at about €530 million, including €375 million in European funding.
