Romania: Transelectrica marks record electricity exports

Total electricity production in Romania last year amounted to 64,750 GWh, which is 10.5 percent more than in 2013, shows the report of the company Transelectrica.

In 2014, Romania exported 9,937 GWh, which is two times more than in 2013.

When it comes to cross-border energy trade, i.e. the difference between exports and imports of electricity, in the last year it is noted an increase of 3.5 times (7.125 compared to 2.016 GWh in 2013), it is stated in the report.

These data cover also the electricity trade (import and export) after the merger of the day ahead markets of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria, on 14 November 2014.

Transelectrica estimates that net production in the current year will amount to 58.527 GWh, and domestic consumption 51.205 GWh.
