This shift is primarily driven by several converging factors, including the impact of carbon pricing on trade flows, heightened market volatility, and evolving compliance requirements for industrial producers.
A notable change in demand dynamics has emerged. Industrial buyers are increasingly seeking long-term contracts for traceable, low-carbon electricity rather than relying on short-term agreements or regulated supplies. This shift underscores the growing recognition of electricity as not merely a cost input but as an essential component for maintaining competitiveness in export markets.
