Montenegro: Only one bid received for Brajici wind farm construction

According to Montenegrin media, a Montenegrin-German consortium submitted the only bid on the tender for the construction of Brajici wind farm.
Tender documentation was bought by five companies, among which was the consortium who submitted the only bid on a tender that concluded last week, two companies from Finland, one from Belgium and one from China. According to unofficial information, Montenegrin-German consortium offered to invest 100 million euros in the construction of 100.8 MW wind farm and 2.5 euros per square meter of leased state land (220,000 square meters in total). Tender commission has a deadline of 45 days to determine whether the offer fulfills all the requirements of the tender.
In August, Montenegrin Ministry of Economy has launched a tender for the construction of Brajici wind farm with installed capacity of at least 70 MW. Tender included 30-year concession for a lease of 13.8 million square meters land plot in Brajici intended for the construction of a wind farm, with annual fee of at least 0.05 euros per square meter. The tender is open for companies which have built wind farms with total capacity of 500 MW, among which at least one of 50 MW or larger capacity, and recorded an annual turnover of at least 100 million euros in the 2016-2018 period. In early 2019, German company WPD, specialized in developing and operating wind farms, has expressed interest in investing in Montenegro, especially in the project for the construction of Brajici wind farm. After the meeting with Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, WPD Director for Europe Andreas Chollet said that the company wishes to invest in Montenegro and has the know-how to develop successful wind projects, while PM Markovic confirmed Montenegro’s intentions to to become a wind energy hub, adding that the Government will intensify works on identifying locations for the development of new wind projects.
