Montenegro: Nordex to supply turbines for Gvozd wind farm

German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has announced its first contract in Montenegro to supply equipment for the 55 MW Gvozd wind farm. The contract, placed by state-owned power utility EPCG, includes the delivery of eight N163/6.X turbines and a premium maintenance service agreement for a 25-year period.

The turbines, part of Nordex’s Delta4000 series, will be installed at the Gvozd wind farm in the municipality of Niksic. Each turbine will be mounted on 113-meter tubular steel towers, with a rated power output of 7 MW. Equipment deliveries are expected to start in November 2025, with the wind farm scheduled to be commissioned by spring 2026.

The foundation stone for the Gvozd wind farm was laid last month, marking the beginning of construction for EPCG’s first large-scale production facility in over four decades. The total project, financed through an EBRD loan, is valued at 82 million euros, with construction expected to be completed in 18 months. Once operational, the Gvozd wind farm will supply energy to around 25,000 households and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 104,000 tons annually. The entire construction and necessary infrastructure for network connection will be funded through credit facilities, with the project designed to essentially pay for itself over time.
