Hungary: ABO Energy commissions 20 MW solar plant

German renewables developer ABO Energy has announced the commissioning of a 20 MW solar power plant near Szarvas in southeastern Hungary. The company plans to sell the facility in the first half of 2025.

The new solar plant is expected to produce 38,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough to meet the energy needs of around 12,600 households. ABO Energy is also working on three additional solar projects in Hungary. Two of these projects, located near Szolnok with a combined capacity of 14 MW, are set to be connected to the grid this winter. Another 12 MW solar power plant near Karcag is expected to go online by February 2025.

Earlier in 2024, ABO Energy sold the project rights for a 250 MW solar farm near Balotaszallas. Additionally, a 9 MW solar facility near Szakoly, which began operation in April, is scheduled for sale in 2025.
