The European Union is responding to ongoing fluctuations in global energy markets by urging member states to revise their gas storage approaches. Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen has recommended that countries aim for gas storage levels of approximately 80% of capacity, a decrease from previously established targets. This adjustment is intended to alleviate immediate pressures on gas supplies while ensuring adequate reserves for the winter months.
To further enhance market stability, authorities are advised to initiate the refilling of gas storage facilities earlier and at a more gradual pace during the injection season.
