Enercon will supply its E-175 EP5 E2 turbine platform for Qair’s Cobadin I wind farm in Romania. The project is described as a 50-MW development under the first phase of the Cobadin complex. The deployment marks the first time the E-175 EP5 E2 platform will be used in Romania.
Turbine specifications for Cobadin I
Enercon will provide seven turbines rated at 7 MW each. The machines are configured with 175-metre rotor diameters mounted on 112-metre steel towers. Enercon is also scheduled to provide long-term servicing for the installation.
Timeline and commissioning schedule
Installation for the Cobadin I turbines is scheduled to begin in July 2027. The first turbine is expected to be commissioned by the end of August 2027. The delivery and commissioning timetable is linked to the start of works planned for that summer period.
Cobadin complex structure and CfD arrangements
Cobadin is planned as two phases of 50 MW, bringing the overall complex capacity to 100 MW. Cobadin I secured a Romanian Contract for Difference in January 2025. Qair later obtained a separate CfD covering the second phase of the development.
The agreement is stated to be the first Romanian wind project jointly developed by Enercon and Qair. It provides Enercon with an entry point for its latest high-capacity onshore turbine platform into a market supported by CfD-backed projects.
