Croatia: JANAF’s SPP commission

At Zitnjak oil terminal operated by Croatian oil transportation company JANAF, An integrated small-scale solar power plant with an installed capacity of 90 kW was put into operation marking its first renewable energy project. The solar panels are installed on approximately 600 square meters of roof area on the auxiliary building at Zitnjak terminal. The new plant will produce about 110,000 kWh of electricity per year, thus providing some 10,000 euros in savings and reducing the CO2 footprint by 65 tons per annum. The project was financed by JANAF’s resources.

President of JANAF’s Board Stjepan Adanic said that the commissioning of this solar power plant the first step of the company towards the implementation of a long-term low-carbon development strategy into renewable energy sources. Namely, the new development strategy of the company will pay special attention to the identification of development projects, especially in the renewable energy sector, and possibly in other compatible and highly profitable high-tech industries, with the aim of generating higher revenues and creating new added value. Also, projects that can be financed from European funds will be considered, especially from the Innovation Fund, the EU Green Deal.
