Croatia: Energy production drops 20.8%, imports and gas output rise

According to the short-term energy statistics released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia for November 2024 totaled 1,264 GWh, marking a 20.8% decrease compared to November 2023, when production reached 1,596 GWh.

In November 2024, hydropower plants generated 525 GWh, accounting for 41.5% of total production, while thermal power plants produced 340 GWh (26.9%), wind farms contributed 287 GWh (22.7%), and solar power plants generated 33 GWh (2.6%).

During this period, Croatia imported 1,007 GWh of electricity, reflecting a 38.1% increase compared to November 2023, when imports were 729 GWh. Electricity exports, on the other hand, amounted to 685 GWh, which is 14.7% less than the 803 GWh exported in November 2023.

In terms of hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 68 million cubic meters of natural gas in November 2024, a 19.3% increase from the same month last year. Natural gas imports amounted to 179 million cubic meters, which is 9.2% lower than in November 2023. Crude oil production stood at 40,000 tons, a 2.4% decrease compared to the previous year. The production of petroleum products reached 302,000 tons in November 2024, up from 285,000 tons in November 2023.
