Bosnia and Herzegovina: Arctech Solar to supply equipment for 125 MW solar power plant

Chinese solar tracker manufacturer Arctech Solar Holding Co. has been selected by Norinco International to provide equipment for a 125 MW solar power plant near Stolac in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to the company’s statement, the agreement with Norinco involves the supply of Arctech’s flagship SkyLine II single-axis solar tracking system.

Arctech, which entered the European market in 2013 by establishing an office in Spain, sees this partnership with Norinco as a significant milestone in its expansion in the local market.

In 2024, Norinco International announced its intention to acquire an 80% stake in the Bosnian company Aurora Solar, which holds a 30-year concession from the Herzegovina-Neretva canton to develop a 125 MW solar power plant. The acquisition, which will be carried out through Norinco’s Hungarian subsidiary, is valued at approximately 13 million euros. The total investment in the project is expected to reach 109.86 million euros. The solar plant will be located in Komanje, near Stolac, and will span 146 hectares.

Norinco International is well-known in the region for constructing the largest wind farm in Croatia, the Senj Wind Farm, which has an installed capacity of 156 MW and a total investment of over 200 million euros. The wind farm was completed in 2021 and is scheduled to be commissioned in late 2024 after delays due to noise issues from the turbines.
