Croatia: CROPEX electricity trading climbs 9.3% year on year in July 2026

Electricity trading on the Croatian power exchange CROPEX reached 1,415,705.5 MWh in July 2026, increasing by 19.1% from the previous month and 9.3% compared with July 2025.

The day-ahead market accounted for 1,018,681.1 MWh, while intraday trading contributed 397,024.4 MWh. Average daily trading volume on the day-ahead market stood at 32,860.7 MWh.

The average day-ahead baseload price rose by 2.6% month on month to €118.89/MWh. In contrast, the average Euro-peak price fell sharply by 65.3% to €87/MWh. The intraday market recorded an average price of €118.74/MWh, down 1.3% from June.

CROPEX began operations on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool. The exchange is jointly owned by Croatian transmission system operator HOPS and electricity market operator HROTE.

Intraday trading was introduced in April 2017, while the Croatian day-ahead market was coupled with the Multi-Regional Coupling (MRC) area via the Croatia-Slovenia border on 19 June 2018.
