Croatia, Bosnia: Gas suppliers talk over joint venture cross border projects

The delegation of BH-Gas, led by Director Jasmin Salkic, held a meeting in Zagreb with the Croatian natural gas transmission system operator Plinacro, led by its CEO Marin Zovko.

At the meeting, the developing projects of the two companies were discussed, namely the possible connection of gas networks of the two countries. The focus for both companies was so-called ―south connection‖, the interconnection between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zagvozd area. Both companies have shown interest in re-activating previously signed agreements and joint appearance before the Energy Community if Southeastern Europe and international financial institutions in order to realize this project.

In addition to this interconnection, the companies have expressed the clear commitment for cooperation related to the Brod-Zenica gas connection, as a strategic project for the diversification of gas supply routes.

At the same time, the delegation of BH-Gas met with the representatives of the company Monter, which was part of the consortium which performed construction works on Zenica-Travnik gas pipeline. In early June, BH-Gas has filed a countersuit against the consortium of Croatian companies Monter and GP Put, which were contractors on the project for the gasification of Middle Bosnia Canton (MBC), to the Sarajevo Arbitration Court. With this countersuit the company seeks compensation for damages in excess to 6 million euros due to poor workmanship on the gas pipeline, as well as compensation for lost profit. The statement from the company said that the consortium of Croatian companies Monter and GP Put has signed in January 2012, 20 million worth project for the gasification of MBC which included the construction of gas pipeline. The contract was terminated in March 2014 due to deficiencies in performed construction works, transmits Serbia-energy.eu
