Bulgaria: Energy production and consumption trends in November 2024

According to the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, electricity production in November 2024 decreased by 3.5% compared to October, totaling 3,008 GWh. In contrast, electricity consumption increased by 24.8% on a monthly basis, reaching 3,254 GWh. Meanwhile, natural gas consumption rose by 32.4%, amounting to 290 million cubic meters, though domestic production remained unchanged at 1 million cubic meters.

When compared to November 2023, electricity production declined by 3.3%, while consumption grew by 13.2%. Natural gas consumption also saw an increase of 11.5% compared to the same month in the previous year.

In the fuels sector, unleaded petrol production fell by 29.3%, totaling 87,000 tons, while consumption rose by 12.5%, reaching 63,000 tons. Diesel production dropped by 1.6%, amounting to 250,000 tons, and its consumption decreased by 2.4%, totaling 242,000 tons. The consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) declined by 10.3% to 35,000 tons, and its production also decreased by 14.3%, reaching 6,000 tons.

In contrast, the production of solid fuels saw a significant increase of 73.5%, totaling 2,042 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy source rose by 60.5%, reaching 2,095 thousand tons.
