Solar output rises in parts of Europe while Germany and Spain see declines

Solar photovoltaic changes in the week of June 8

In the week of June 8, solar photovoltaic (PV) generation increased across most major European electricity markets versus the previous week. France recorded the largest rise at 8.8%, followed by Italy with a 4.7% increase. Portugal posted a gain of 0.9%, the smallest growth among the markets analyzed.

Solar generation fell in both Germany and Spain, extending a second consecutive week of decreases in these two markets. Germany saw the steepest drop at 10%. Spain declined by 2.7%, indicating weaker solar output conditions compared with the prior week.

June 15 outlook for solar generation

AleaSoft Energy Forecasting projects higher solar energy production for the week of June 15. The forecast points to increases in Italy, Germany, and Spain compared with the recent downturn.

During the second week of June, wind energy production rose in most major European electricity markets. Germany recorded the largest increase at 32%, marking its third consecutive week of growth. Italy increased by 10%, while Spain rose by 15%, maintaining an upward trend for a second straight week.

Wind output declined in Portugal and France during the same period. Portugal experienced a 7.2% decrease, while France recorded a sharper 27% drop.

AleaSoft forecast for wind in the third week of June

For the third week of June, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting expects wind energy production to decline across all analyzed European markets. The company links this to weaker wind generation conditions across the continent. AleaSoft reports.
