With two groups of 3.2 MW each, Silistea gas compression station has been operating since 1980. Romanian natural gas transmission system operator Transgaz said that it has completed the modernization of Silistea gas compressor station.
The modernization is part of the major development project for the interconnection of the national gas transport system with the international transport pipeline Tranzit 1 and reverse flow Isaccea. The project is of common interest at European level through its significant contribution to the integration of the energy market, with a cross-border impact.
By implementing the project, the supply of Bulgaria can be ensured on the corridor Onesti–Sendreni–Isaccea–Tranzit 1–Negru Voda. Also, in case of taking over the gas from the Black Sea continental shelf in the Tranzit 1 pipeline, it can be ensured simultaneously the supply of Bulgaria, the supply of deficient areas in the national gas transport system, as well as the directing of a quantity of gas to Podisor–Mosu or the export of a quantity of natural gas to Moldova.
Silistea station is one of the main three natural gas compression stations (along with Sinca and Onesti), located on the main transport directions of the national network, which have an installed capacity of about 28.94 MW, with a maximum compression capacity of 15.6 million cubic meters per day.
