Romania has stepped up gas storage injections to more than 13 million cubic metres per day ahead of winter. The increase follows stronger cross-border inflows and a modest rise in domestic production.
Storage levels and supply flows
Romanian storage sites are about 78% full. Flows through Kardam/Negru Vodă from Bulgaria have climbed to around 14.2 million cubic metres per day, up from about 12 million.
Domestic gas production has also increased, reaching roughly 23.2 million cubic metres per day from 22.2 million. With consumption relatively subdued and exports broadly steady, more of the additional supply is directed to storage.
Wholesale price exposure for stockbuilding
Faster injections provide Romania with additional cover before winter. However, the cost of building storage stocks remains exposed to wholesale gas prices.
