Region: BP resumes operations at Shah Deniz Alpha platform after pipeline repair

British Petroleum (BP) announced the restart of its Shah Deniz Alpha platform in Azerbaijan on 19 January, following the resolution of a technical issue that had caused a temporary halt in operations. The problem, which affected the underwater gas pipeline connecting the platform to the Sangachal terminal, has now been fully repaired.

While production and export from the platform are being gradually restored, BP indicated that this process would take several more days. The technical fault was discovered on 7 January, leading to the suspension of gas production and export. As a result, deliveries of Azeri gas to Bulgaria and Serbia were interrupted. BP continues to work closely with its partners to ensure a smooth and coordinated return to full operations.
