Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Milutin Mrkonjic said in Moscow that Serbia’s infrastructure priorities are the completion of road and railway Corridors 10 and 11, and the Danube waterway Corridor 7, in which a total of €15 billion will be invested over a next few years.
Mrkonjic, who attends in Moscow a meeting of transport ministers of the member states of the Organisation for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), said in a statement to Tanjug news agency that he called on the member states to enter strategic partnership with Serbian national air carrier Jat Airways and take part in major infrastructure projects in Serbia.
As of 1 January 2012, Serbia will take over the presidency of the organisation from Russia, the Minister said and added that this will be an opportunity to develop new, commercial dimension of relations between Serbia and other member countries, which will be very important for our state-owned enterprises.
The Minister recalled that the negotiations are underway with Turkish companies regarding the implementation of projects on Corridor 11, whose total value is approximately €1.5 billion, adding that he spoke in Moscow with representatives of Turkey and Azerbaijan on finding a strategic partner for Jat Airways.
On the fringes of this meeting, Mrkonjic and Russian Minister of Transport signed the agreement on air transport and cooperation in maritime transport between the two countries.
The Organisation for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation was founded in 1998 at Yalta and has 12 member states – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Albania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and Serbia.
A number of countries, including Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Egypt, Tunisia and Israel, have the observer status in this organisation.
