Hungary extends household solar support settlement deadline to 30 September 2026

Hungary has extended the settlement deadline for households participating in a residential solar energy support program financed under the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The new deadline is set for 30 September 2026. The extension applies to projects that have not yet been completed.

The government said the updated timeline also covers cases where solar installations were delayed due to administrative bottlenecks or other implementation-related issues affecting project execution schedules. Rural Development Minister Viktória Lőrincz stated that the additional time is intended to help applicants whose installations are close to completion but missed the original deadline due to external delays.

Scope of the extended deadline for unfinished installations

The settlement extension covers projects still in progress, including situations where delays occurred during implementation. This includes delays linked to administrative bottlenecks and other factors affecting how quickly installations can be completed. The policy therefore targets households whose projects have not reached completion by the earlier cut-off date.

Responsibility for contractor-caused delays and advance payments

The government clarified that delays attributable to contractors or service providers remain the responsibility of those companies. In such cases, any recovery of advance payments will be directed at the service providers rather than at participating households. The stated aim is to protect end beneficiaries from financial penalties connected to those contractor-related delays.

EU RRF funding for residential solar investment

The program supports residential solar energy investments across Hungary. It is funded through the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, which is designed to accelerate green transition investments and energy system modernization. The extension therefore applies within a framework tied to RRF-backed support for household-level solar deployment.
