Helleniq Energy has installed the first turbine at its 96 MW wind project in Romania’s Galati county. The installation marks the start of the main equipment-assembly phase. The company said the project is designed to use 15 turbines. Two additional turbines could be installed by mid-August if weather conditions permit.
Civil and electrical works advance at Galati site
Civil and electrical construction is already well advanced at the Galati project. Every turbine foundation has been completed, and access roads are in place. The 33 kV cable system has been installed. The next stage involves assembling the remaining main equipment.
Developer and commissioning timeline
Helleniq Renewables, the clean-energy subsidiary of Greece’s Helleniq Energy group, is developing the wind farm. Commercial operation is planned for 2027. The project adds to Helleniq Energy’s Romanian generation footprint that began earlier in 2026. At that time, the company commissioned two solar plants in Teleorman and Olt counties.
Romanian solar pipeline and total portfolio size
The two commissioned solar plants in Teleorman and Olt have a combined capacity of 58 MW. A further 153 MW of photovoltaic capacity is expected to enter service during 2026. Including projects still under development, Helleniq Energy’s Romanian pipeline and operating portfolio exceeds 850 MW across solar, wind and battery storage.
