According to data published by Greek electricity transmission system operator ADMIE, electricity consumption in the country has fell for a third consecutive months in September, amounting to 5.55 % less compared to the same month last year.
However, the consumption drop was significantly lower compared to the previous two months – 12.71 % in August and 11.24 % in July. Lower drop was contributed to the return of consumers from summer holidays, as well as to post-summer business reopenings.
In the low- and medium-voltage categories, electricity consumption in September dropped by 3.98 %, well below the August 13 % level. On the other hand, the high-voltage category recorded a drop of 4.25 % in September, that was actually higher than August’s 3.98 % drop.
Greek electricity generation also dropped this September, by 13.83 % year-on-year, reaching 3,454 GWh.
Overall electricity consumption in the first nine months of 2022 fell by 5.13 % compared to 2021.
