During the week of September 14, solar photovoltaic generation declined across all major European electricity markets compared with the previous week. Portugal recorded the sharpest decrease, at 10%, following two consecutive weeks of growth. Solar output in France and Germany fell by 6.2% and 5.4%, respectively, while Spain recorded a 4.4% decline. Italy posted the smallest decrease, at 1.0%. Germany, France, Spain and Italy all registered lower solar generation for the second consecutive week.
For the week beginning September 21, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting expects solar generation to increase in the German, Spanish and Italian electricity markets.
During the third week of September, wind power generation increased across most major European electricity markets compared with the previous week. Portugal recorded the strongest growth, with output rising 49%, followed by Germany, where wind generation increased by 43% after declining in the previous week. France recorded a 10% increase after two consecutive weeks of declines, while Spain’s wind generation rose by 7.4%. Portugal and Spain recorded higher wind output for the second consecutive week.
Italy was the only major market to move in the opposite direction, with wind generation falling 16% after increasing during the previous week.
For the week beginning September 21, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting forecasts lower wind generation in the German, French, Portuguese and Spanish markets. In contrast, wind power output is expected to increase in Italy, according to AleaSoft.
