ENEVO Group has signed a major EPC contract with Austrian renewable energy developer Kraftfeld for a utility-scale battery energy storage system in Draganesti-Olt, southern Romania. The agreement extends ENEVO’s presence in the regional energy storage market. Kraftfeld is set to lead project development under the contract. ENEVO Group will carry out the full engineering, procurement and construction scope.
The EPC scope includes the design and build of the battery facility. It also covers the associated high-voltage substation and grid connection infrastructure. The planned system will provide 110 MW of power output and 220 MWh of storage capacity. It is intended to store excess electricity during periods of high generation and return it to the grid when demand increases or market conditions require additional supply.
Project timeline and expected operational start
Construction for the Draganesti-Olt battery project is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026. Commercial operation is expected in early 2027. After completion, the project is described as contributing to Romania’s growing energy storage infrastructure. It will also add to ENEVO Group’s portfolio of battery projects in the region.
Pipeline scale and Kraftfeld regional focus
After signing the agreement, ENEVO Group said its combined pipeline of operational and under-construction storage assets has surpassed 1 GWh. Kraftfeld is headquartered in Vienna. The company continues expanding its renewable energy footprint across Central and Eastern Europe. Its focus includes large-scale solar and battery storage investments .
