EPC contract details for Satu Mare 3
Romanian utility Electrica has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth around €27.9 million (excluding VAT) for the development of the Satu Mare 3 solar power project. The agreement marks the project’s move into the construction phase following completion of planning and preparatory works.
The EPC contract is concluded through Electrica’s subsidiary New Trend Energy. The scope includes construction of the solar plant as well as development of a 110 kV substation.
Location, capacity and post-commissioning services
The solar power plant will be located near the village of Doba in Satu Mare County. The project has an installed capacity of 62.5 MW.
The contract also covers operation and maintenance services for three years after the facility becomes operational. With the EPC agreement signed, the project proceeds from development into full construction execution.
Financing and wider generation expansion plan
Electrica said the investment will be financed primarily through proceeds from its 2025 green bond issuance. The company linked this funding approach to its strategy of using capital markets to support renewable expansion.
The Satu Mare 3 project is part of Electrica’s broader plan to expand its generation portfolio and strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector. Electrica previously outlined an ambition to develop up to 1 GW of installed generation capacity by the end of the decade, with solar expected to play a central role in that growth strategy.
