Croatia: SolarPower Europe and RES Croatia partner to accelerate solar energy growth

SolarPower Europe and Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia (RES Croatia) have formed a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating solar energy development in Croatia and the broader region. As Croatia nears the milestone of 1 gigawatt (GW) of installed solar capacity, the partnership emphasizes the shared commitment to unlocking the country’s solar potential and advancing its renewable energy goals.

The partnership’s first major initiative will be the Solar Flex event, scheduled for March 2025 in Zagreb. This event will serve as a platform for sharing best practices from across Europe to tackle challenges related to grid flexibility, removing deployment barriers, and accelerating solar energy adoption in Croatia and neighboring countries.

“Croatia has vast untapped solar potential,” said Walburga Hemetsberger, CEO of SolarPower Europe. “By modernizing grid infrastructure, promoting energy storage solutions, and eliminating obstacles such as high grid connection costs, we can position solar energy as a leading force in Croatia’s energy transition.”

RES Croatia has been a key advocate for renewable energy in the country since 2016, working across various technologies including solar, wind, biomass, and energy storage. The partnership with SolarPower Europe further highlights their collective goal of overcoming challenges to renewable energy growth, particularly issues like high grid connection costs and the need for infrastructure updates to support solar projects. This collaboration aims to drive Croatia and the region closer to a sustainable energy future.
