Croatia: Electricity trade on CROPEX in June

During June 2021, a total volume of 361,765.9 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX, which is 23.5 % less than in May, of which 332,959 MWh on the day-ahead market and 28,806.9 MWh on the intraday market. Traded volume in June 2021 was 39.8 % lower compared to the same month last year. Average daily base price on day-ahead market in June amounted to 78.39 euros/MWh, which is 30.9 % higher than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 80.78 euros/MWh, 36.7 % higher compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 80.54 euros/MWh, 34 % higher compared to May. There are 23 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market (the same as in the previous month), seventeen of which have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in June amounted to 11,098.6 MWh. CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June 2018, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
