Bulgaria: Electricity generation dropped by 12 % in the first two months of 2020

Production of electricity in Bulgaria in the period between 1 January and 1 March 2020 has decreased by 12.26 % compared to the same period in 2019 and reached 7.85 TWh, according to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO. Bulgaria’s electricity consumption dropped as well in the same period, by 2.13 % reaching a total of 7.68 TWh. Electricity exports dropped by 24.65 % in the same period to 1.18 TWh, while imports of electricity rose by 117 % to 1.01 TWh. The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network rose by 14.27 % to 252.25 GWh, while RES share in the country’s distribution network increased by 15.93 % to 339.48 GWh.
