Production of electricity in Bulgaria in the period between 1 January and 19 April 2020 has decreased by 9.3 % compared to the same period in 2019 and reached 13.67 TWh, according to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO.
Bulgaria’s electricity consumption dropped as well in the same period, by 1.65 % reaching a total of 12.83 TWh. Electricity exports dropped by 18.34 % in the same period to 2.39 TWh, while imports of electricity rose by 72.87 % to 1.55 TWh. The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network rose by 21.8 % to 475.65 GWh, while RES share in the country’s distribution network increased by 15.52 % to 642.65 GWh.
