A tender procedure for the procurement, construction and commissioning of construction site for the gas transmission pipeline to Svishtov was launched last September. Bulgartransgaz, Bulgarian natural gas transmission system operator said that it has received six offers.
Two Bulgarian-Italian consortia placed bids: Eurotecnoimpianti and Gasenergo 2001 consortium and S.A.L.P. and Monolit Sofia. Another bid came from a tie-up between Russian Promneftegazinzhiniring and local companies Groma Hold and Evropeiski Patishta, while a consortium of North Macedonia’s Rapid Build and local Atomenergoremont also submitted an offer. The last two bids came from local company Europroject Building and local consortium consisting of Glavbolgarstroy and Glavbolgarstroy International.
This procurement procedure is aimed at expansion of the gas transmission network of Bulgaria by construction of a new gas transmission pipeline to the town of Svishtov. The construction of the new gas transmission pipeline will create conditions and prerequisites for gas supply to industrial consumers and public-administrative consumers in the region, as well as for domestic gas supply to the municipalities of Svishtov, Belene and others.
Bulgartransgaz will finance the contract with part of the proceeds from a grant from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In early 2019, the EBRD said that Bulgartransgaz will receive 10.9 million euros grant from the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF) to partially finance the construction of three gas pipelines. The three pipelines in question, with a total combined length of 122 kilometers, are: Svishtov gas pipeline in northern Bulgaria, gas pipeline connecting Panagiurishte and Pirdop in western part of the country and gas pipeline between Razlog and Bansko in southwestern Bulgaria.
