According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,288 GWh in August 2021, compared to 1,320 GWh in the same month last year.
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 29.2 %, thermal power plants with 68.7 % and solar and wind power plants with 2.1 %.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 358 GWh in August 2021, which is 44.4 % more than in the same month in 2020 (248 GWh). Thermal production amounted to 802 GWh, which is 15 % less than last August. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 28 GWh, 21.7 % more than last year .
Electricity imports rose by 40.3 % to 324 GWh in August from last year’s 231 GWh, while exports decreased by 12.9 % to 520 GWh (597 GWh in August 2020).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 611,000 tons in August 2021, which is 10.8 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 3.7 % and amounted to 538,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in August 2021 amounted to 10.25 million cubic meters, 49.9 % more compared to a year before (6.84 million cubic meters).
