Albania has approved the development of two large-scale solar power plants in the Fier region, adding 140 MW to the country’s renewable energy pipeline. The projects are planned for southwestern Albania and are expected to be completed within three years. The approvals follow government authorisation for the selected developments.
Euron Solar PV to build 100 MW plant under 49-year concession
The larger project will be delivered by Euron Solar PV, which has been authorised to construct a 100 MW solar power plant. After the facility becomes operational, the company will have the right to manage it for a period of 49 years. The operating framework is set under a long-term concession arrangement.
Fos Solar awarded 40 MW project with 49-year operating period
Fos Solar will develop the second installation, a 40 MW solar power plant. The project will operate under the same long-term arrangement as the Euron Solar PV facility. Fos Solar has also been granted a 49-year operating period after construction is completed.
Fier region selected for solar expansion driven by irradiation and land
The approvals support Albania’s effort to diversify its electricity generation mix and attract private capital into renewable energy infrastructure. Fier has been identified as one of Albania’s most active solar development areas, citing favourable irradiation conditions and available land resources. Together, the two plants are expected to add clean generation capacity once completed.
