SEEPEX day-ahead market volume reaches all-time monthly high in June 2026

June 2026 day-ahead trading volumes on SEEPEX

569,139.1 MWh of electricity was traded on the SEEPEX day-ahead market in June 2026. The figure represented a 0.5% increase versus the previous month, with an average daily volume of 18,971.3 MWh/day. On a year-on-year basis, traded volume rose by 12.6%. June 2026 also set an all-time record for monthly traded volume on SEEPEX’s day-ahead market.

Day-ahead pricing levels and month-on-month changes

The average daily base price on the day-ahead market in June stood at €100.71/MWh, up 4.2% compared with May. The average euro-peak price reached €80.06/MWh, increasing by 22% month-on-month. The gap between base and peak prices pointed to stronger price pressure during peak hours and higher intraday volatility in the Serbian power market.

Exchange launch, ownership and market expansion

The SEEPEX exchange was officially launched on 17 February 2016, starting with an initial traded volume of 1,925 MWh. It is jointly owned by Serbia’s transmission system operator EMS and the European Power Exchange (EPEX SPOT). The exchange’s stated objective is to support a competitive, transparent and reliable electricity market in Serbia and across the broader Southeast European region, while increasing liquidity and trading activity.

Intraday market introduction in July 2023

SEEPEX expanded its offering with the launch of an intraday market in July 2023. The intraday segment was introduced to strengthen short-term trading flexibility. It also aimed to improve system balancing capabilities in an increasingly volatile regional power environment.
