SEEPEX monthly record lifts Serbia day-ahead trading in May 2026

Record day-ahead volumes on SEEPEX

The Serbian energy exchange SEEPEX reported its highest-ever monthly activity in May 2026. A total of 566,303.8 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market during the month. The figure was up 17% versus April and 12.5% higher year-on-year, establishing a new all-time record for the exchange.

Average daily traded volume reached 18,267.9 MWh. Trading activity remained steady throughout the month, according to the reported figures. The results were recorded for the organized electricity trading platform in Serbia.

Day-ahead price levels and euro-peak movement

Price data for May 2026 showed changes across day-ahead pricing components. The average base price on the day-ahead market stood at €96.63/MWh, up 5.6% compared with April. In contrast, the average euro-peak price declined by 3% to €65.6/MWh.

This split reflected different movements between baseload-related pricing and peak-demand periods within the day-ahead market outcomes. The figures were presented as average levels for May 2026.

Intraday trading totals and average pricing

On the intraday market, 4,969.2 MWh was traded during May 2026. The average intraday price was reported at €41.539/MWh. The intraday segment was introduced in July 2023 and continues to operate as an additional trading layer.

The reported intraday activity provides a separate measure of volumes and pricing alongside day-ahead results for the same month.

SEEPEX launch date and ownership structure

SEEPEX launched on 17 February 2016 with an initial traded volume of 1,925 MWh. Since then, the exchange has expanded its activity over time. The latest monthly statistics reflect that growth trajectory within Serbia’s organized power market.

The exchange is jointly owned by EMS, the Serbian Electricity Transmission System Operator, and EPEX SPOT. It is designed to support a transparent, competitive, and integrated electricity market in Serbia and the wider Southeast European region.
