In June 2025, North Macedonia’s total electricity consumption reached 296,651 MWh, while natural gas use amounted to 8.33 million cubic meters, coal consumption totaled 357,500 tons, and petroleum product consumption stood at 101,113 tons, according to the State Statistical Office. All electricity consumed during the month was covered by domestic production, and 99.9% of coal use was directed toward electricity generation.
Gross electricity production in June totaled 333,640 MWh, down 21.7% compared to the same month in 2024. Thermal power plants generated 171,954 MWh (51.5% of total output), marking a 1.3% increase year-on-year. Hydropower plants produced 73,277 MWh (22%), down 29.3%, while combined heat and power (CHP) plants generated 22,855 MWh (6.9%), a sharp decline of 70.7%. Wind farms contributed 16,180 MWh (4.85%), biogas plants 4,176 MWh, and solar power plants produced 45,198 MWh, accounting for 13.5% of total generation.
Electricity imports in June stood at 114,930 MWh, up from 94,522 MWh in June 2024, while exports totaled 151,919 MWh, compared to 134,393 MWh a year earlier.
